It’s A Good Time For The Great Taste of #ThrowbackThursday

Or a fast food chain that boasts a great taste, which using talking Chicken Nugget puppets to lure us in.

Today’s commercial block, once again, comes from the videocassette collection of one Ashley Thomas (The Nerdy Blogger) whose “1988 tapes,” as I call them, have provided some pretty cool nostalgia. Thanks buddy, you are the best, and so is your nostalgia!

Today’s featured commercial block were recorded from the NBC affiliate WBIR in Knoxville, Tennessee on December 10, 1988, during NBC’s Saturday Morning.

What was airing on that Saturday morning?

Why, airings of Alvin and the Chipmunks and the beginning of ALF/ALF Tales Hour, which cuts off during the commercials after the opening credits. I had to make an edit to avoid getting this video blocked, due to ALF/ALF Tales Hour‘s opening credits being content ID’d by Lionsgate. But believe me, this block is a good one, with plenty of fun stuff thrown in.

Stuff like…

Chicken McNuggets who make movies, Jaleel White for Apple Jacks (an apple-y sweet part of this complete breakfast!), twelve rounds of major destruction on your Sega Master System, toys that will bounce their way into your heart, complete with a jingle you’ll hear for the rest of the day (lucky you!), Christmas-colored Crunchberry goodness (or as my husband said about Cap’n Crunch, cereal that rips up the roof of your mouth), and another visitor to the Honeycomb Hideout!

Oh, and plenty of NBC Saturday Morning bumpers…

They lack the pizzazz of the ABC bumpers, but they try!

There’s a local commercial, toys, signs of Christmas, and a little treat thrown in for good measure. Because it is the holidays, and I’m in a giving kind of mood.

Lucky you!

And because I love you all, combined with that same Christmas spirit, I uploaded the opening for ALF/ALF Tales Hour here.

You’re welcome…I guess?

I was an ABC and CBS Saturday Morning kind of gal, myself. I don’t think I ever watched NBC’s Saturday morning lineup, mostly because I didn’t like Alvin and the Chipmunks back then.

Tomorrow, we’ll wrap up the week with another commercial block of the past, with a little Christmas thrown into it for good measure.

Again, special thanks to Ashley for her contribution to Throwback Thursday!

Have a great Throwback Thursday!
