Updates (And Other Stuff) – Week Ending July 19, 2015

UpdatesHere’s what’s going on for the week ending Sunday, July 19, 2015.

So, it has been an eventful week at Allison’s Written Words, to say the least. And while I really do need to come back here and post something (I actually do have something that will be up by late today/early tomorrow), what’s been going on elsewhere in my writing world has been kind of taking priority.

So, if you haven’t been living in a hole lately, you probably saw (and only because I posted the link in way too many places) that my first contribution to The Agony Booth became a thing on Friday morning.  That was a big deal for me, as I had been hoping to break into writing for them for a long time.  And the traffic and response it has gotten leads me to believe it will not be the last time I write for them.  So, now I’m re-organizing my thoughts and thinking of another pitch for them.  I have a few ideas in mind, so let’s see which one shoves its way forth first!

And on Retroist…

Things are going swimmingly there too!  Seriously, two articles, and – now I don’t want to say too much yet – but I’ve also been offered the opportunity to contribute to a Halloween podcast.  The opportunity I’ve been given to contribute my talent has been exciting for me.  Again, the hope that the beginning of a beautiful relationship with them is something I’m working toward.  My second article went live last Saturday (that was in last week’s update), and I’m putting the finishing touches on a third, so I’ll likely be sending that off by tomorrow.

I also leafed through another Avon catalog at work and found some more worthy contributions to a third “Laaaaydies of Avon” article, so I’ll get that going soon.  Trying to be redundant here, but I do like to try my hand at snarky commentary when I can.

And yes, we finally got through RiffTrax Live!: Sharknado 2 after the storm took out the satellite feed last week.  It was terrible, but that was the point.  And if that point was missed…well, let’s just say it has happened.  And I went back to the movies on Saturday to see Marvel’s latest movie Ant-Man.  I loved every minute of it!  I highly recommend it if you haven’t already seen it – it had its action, some comedy, and I’m a sucker for special effects and 3D.

Oh and…Paul Rudd.

I think that about wraps up the week.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
