…and so does the taste of Lymon!
One more day, and we are out of 2020.
Usually, I try to reserve the Throwback Thursday and Flashback Friday posts around the beginning of the new year for “new year, new me”-type commercials, but since we actually have both days on the actual holiday, I wound up finding commercials that actually capture the days perfectly.
Today’s commercial comes to us from 1980, and from Sprite. We’ve seen Sprite (and its competitor, 7Up) get love on this blog, but only 7Up has gotten the holiday treatment. The end of 2020 belongs to Sprite!
To the tune of “Good King Wenceslas,” Sprite shows you all the ways you can serve it up at all of your holiday get-togethers.
Be it topped with a maraschino cherry, slice of lime, with an extra ice cube, and…in a punch bowl, the great taste of lymon goes over nicely anytime.
The punch bowl part confuses me. Unless it is actually part of a punch, putting it in a giant bowl with lemon and lime slices would just make it go flat quickly. I’m not the party type, but I’ve just never seen it put in a punch bowl without actual punch ingredients.
The bottle isn’t fancy enough, I guess?
Anyway, get caught up in the festivities and lymon with today’s commercial!
It’s been there for you since 1961, it has taken on many different versions in that time, but it will always mix right on holiday occasions.
Like New Years Eve.
