There Goes That #FlashbackFriday Again!

Because why wouldn’t it?  And hopefully, it won’t go too fast!

Well, we made it to Friday, and with that comes the promise of more commercials!

Yesterday, we watched commercials from November 2002, airing on a late-evening broadcast of a rerun on a basic cable network.  Today, we’re watching commercials from one of the “Big Three” networks, from June 2001.  The date on the tape label says June 5, 2001.  The program was an episode of The Rosie O’Donnell Show, and Jimmy Fallon (who was hosting the MTV Movie Awards that week) was a guest.

If you told me 18 years ago that he would be hosting The Tonight Show, I would have told you you’re lying.

Included in this block of commercials:

Connecticut Governor John Rowland and his wife try witty banter as a selling point to get you to visit Connecticut during the summer of 2001!

Hidden Valley Ranch…now in a squeeze bottle!

Before Dad Bod, there was K-Mart commercials celebrating Father’s Day, and clothes for dads!

Outdoor furniture!

Michael Bloomberg…for Mayor!

I have nothing about this, other than the fact that it is a coffee commercial, and the Twin Towers were still a glorious part of the New York City skyline.

And finishing your chores so you can go on a date…priceless.

We’ve got news teasers, Mighty Mouse eating cheese, Mob Families on game shows, and yes, the famous “There goes that news van again!” commercial WABC was known for!

So go on, click play and relive the early summer of 2001 in all its glory!

I used to watch The Rosie O’Donnell Show when it was on, and sometimes, not just because there was a guest on I wanted to see.  I loved her talk show!

I still find it hard to believe this guy became a talk show host. He always seemed so nervous!

And he never combed his hair!

These Throwback Thursday/Flashback Friday commercial blocks are a fun treat, and a nice way to usher in the weekend!

Because when we get to see Mighty Mouse being selfish in the name of cheese, and a parting shot of the Twin Towers in a commercial that celebrates New York and coffee, then I know I’m doing something right!

Have a fantastic Flashback Friday, and a great weekend!
