You Can Do It. #ThrowbackThursday Can Help.

Because it gets you to your goal…reaching Friday in one piece.

Welcome to 2019!  We’re in our first week of Throwback/Flashback, and we’re talking New Year’s resolutions and New Year/New You.    Because self improvement (for the sake of better health or a better outlook) is just a product placement away.

On this Thursday, let’s talk resolutions.  Every year, 45% of Americans make a resolution for the new year.  Broken down by success rates, 22% of resolutions fail after about a week, 40% after a month, 50% after 3 months, and 60% after 6 months (source).

The most common resolutions, based on 2000 people asked, are (source):

1. Diet or eat healthier (71%)

2. Exercise more (65%)

3. Lose weight (54%)

4. Save more and spend less (32%)

5. Learn a new skill or hobby (26%)

6. Quit smoking (21%)

7. Read more (17%)

8. Find another job (16%)

9. Drink less alcohol (15%)

10. Spend more time with family and friends (13%)

Surprisingly, today’s topic isn’t even in the top five resolutions, but it is a pretty important, healthy, and life-changing resolution that more people should consider.

If you think this is about alcohol advertising…seriously, you think this is about alcohol?

Today’s commercial goes back to 1999, and the introduction of a fresher-tasting product designed to help cut cravings, with the eventuality that one would quit smoking.

In fact, it’s so fresh, it is symbolized as a leaf blowing in the air…

What is this fresh product, meant to help cut cravings to the point of quitting smoking altogether?

Well, click play and find out!

Wow, now isn’t that fresh?

Nicorette was introduced in Sweden in 1978 as a nicotine replacement gum, the first product of its kind on the market.  The product line has expanded to include not only gum, but lozenges, patches, oral spray, inhalator, tablets, and nasal spray.  The name “Nicorette” combines “nicotine” with the Swedish word “rette,” which means “right away.”  The product was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States on January 13, 1984, and has been contributing to the success of ex-smokers ever since.

The mint flavor Nicorette was introduced in early 1999, and still exists to this day.  In addition to mint, there is spearmint, fruit chill, ice mint, original, and cinnamon.  Twenty years later, there are more fresh options for people choosing to quit.

So, call it a win!  we have a product that still exists today!

We continue on with our resolution and “New Year/New You” theme with Flashback Friday, focusing on a product that totes the feeling of recapturing a certain time of life again, without the addictive properties of cigarettes.

We hope.

It’s all we can do.

So until then, keep those resolutions alive and kicking, and we’ll be back for more self improvement tomorrow!

Have a fantastic Throwback Thursday!
