It’s #ThrowbackThursday, and the day after Veteran’s Day. As I said yesterday, thank you to all who have served, and those who continue to do so in order to protect the freedoms we hold dear.
Today’s Throwback Thursday commercial is dedicated to those brave men and women.
When you think of Polaroid, you think of one thing: instant photos. They were the digital camera of their time – take a picture, see it immediately. And in 1992, they were alive, well, and as we will see in this commercial, they knew how to strike all the right cords, pull the heartstrings, and give viewers all the feels it possibly can.
It’s a commercial that involves a scavenger hunt, and ends with a very special surprise. And it’s timely no matter what, but this week, as we are saluting those who serve, it’s even more timely.
I could easily talk about the commercial, but I think it speaks for itself, without saying anything at all.
And there you have it, a commercial that hits all the right notes and makes you feel good, while allowing us a glimpse of technology that at one time was culturally relevant. Isn’t that the stuff of all truly effective messages?
