(Alternative title: Shockingly #ThrowbackThursday) 🙂
Merry…Day After Christmas?
I hope you had a very Merry Christmas, and are enjoying this post-Christmas Day. Christmas around here comes to an end after this week, so that means two more days of Christmas commercials from the archives.
Set up by popular viewership for this week, I’ve set up two blocks of commercials from my personal archives for your post-holiday viewing pleasure.
Today’s commercial block comes from a rerun of the hospital drama ER, taped on December 25, 2003 from WNBC 4 New York. The episode was the tenth season premiere, “Now What?”, which originally aired on September 25, 2003. This episode was the introduction of medical student (later doctor) Neela Rasgotra, and was the 202nd episode of the series.
During my junior and senior years of college, I had a weekly VCR timer to tape ER since I didn’t get home from work until 10:30 pm, and well, I forgot to turn off the timer on Christmas Day. I wasn’t working that day, but was spending time with my family. But hey, my accidental recording is your Throwback Thursday viewing.
Included in this block of commercials…
Year-end sales on beginning of model year cars…
Kelly Ripa for Pantene, which always reminds me of the commercial she did on Saturday Night Live for shampoo with crack cocaine in it.
The worst kind of experts…
There’s nothing priceless about this so-called “expert.”
Not Sprite or 7 Up…
Photo printers, or “the days before cell phones.”
(I actually have the new version of this photo printer, it connects to my cell phone!)
After holiday sales!
The end of the Jim Fassel era for the Giants.
(They went 4-12 in the 2003 season.)
There’s news teasers, commercials for products and services we were buying and using in 2003, and the reminder that it was Christmas Day.
So, whenever you’re ready, the commercials await you!
Tomorrow, more commercials from December 25, 2003, from something I actually intended to record that day!
Have a great Throwback Thursday!
