#FlashbackFriday – The #Valentines Store

It’s Friday, #FlashbackFriday, and the Day After Valentine’s Day.  Or, as those pro-tippers refer to it: Discount Chocolate Day!

Seriously, if you want to know the trick to eternal happiness, chocolate is probably half off today – go get some!

From 900 numbers dispensing Valentine’s Day stories from licensed characters, to one-stop shopping for all of your Valentine’s Day needs, we move to 1985 for our Flashback Friday, and to the YouTubeLand archives of Fuzzy Memories.TV, the most incredible source of classic Chicagoland commercials and goodies.  I love this YouTube channel, and it was one of the first channels I ever obsessively binge-watched back when I first started visiting them in 2006. Their collection has only gotten more and more amazing, but only if you like local programming and commercials.

You know how I feel about that.

Anyway, this commercial is about Hallmark and Valentine’s Day, which go together like peanut butter and jelly.  Coincidentally, there actually may be a chocolate bar somewhere with that flavor.  And if not, someone needs to invent it.

Someone with culinary skillz.

Anyway, Hallmark, meet Valentine’s Day!

Kansas City, MO-based Hallmark Cards, Inc. has been making holidays happen since 1910, selling cards, gifts, and anything else you need to make holidays special.  Outside of holidays, they sell some pretty cute home decorations.

Hallmark, of course, is well known for their greeting cards, and this commercial aims to show the sheer variety of cards they have, with a cute subplot involving a guy who seems to think he’s gonna nab the girl.

Perhaps his future Valentine?

We’ll leave that open to the imagination!

Anyway, that does it for this Flashback Friday, and this Valentine’s Day.  If you’re like me, and you’re celebrating this weekend, enjoy!  And as always, have a fantastic Flashback Friday, and a great weekend!
