This week’s Discover Challenge: Learning.
From trying out an instrument to mastering a new language, share a story about a time you set out to learn something new.
I’m one of those people that firmly believes in learning impractical skills. Not because I’m attempting to obtain a job with them, but because I like to be multi-faceted. Every skill, even the most impractical ones, are valuable when they keep your mind active.
I learned the piano when I was twelve years old, but stopped taking formal lessons when I was fourteen years old. I actually wound up revisiting and re-teaching myself the piano again about thirteen years after I stopped lessons. I haven’t given it as much effort as I should in recent years, but I still know how to read music after all these years.
I know how to edit audio and video files. My skills are fairly basic, but I’m always looking for ways to enhance my skills. I put together all of the videos I feature on my blog as part of Throwback Thursday and Flashback Friday, and even have a whole page of some of my best stuff right here on the blog.
I’m actually thinking about upgrading my blog to a paid account, so I can learn how to customize my blog’s layout and toy with it. I’d love to be able to say I can customize a website to my liking and a style that works for me.
