“Coming Only To #FlashbackFriday This (Not) 1992 Holiday Season…”

Man, do I ever wish!

Like yesterday, in honor of Disney’s release of the live-action version of Aladdin this week, I dug into my Disney VHS archives, and pulled out a few gems!  In that collection, we looked at the goodies from the 1991 VHS release of DuckTales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, the feature film adaptation of the popular Disney cartoon series from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Today, we move forward one year to 1992, and to the VHS release of my favorite Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast.  This one is notable for not only being my favorite Disney movie, but for containing the trailer for my fiancee’s favorite Disney movie!

Oh, and it has a goodie on the end of the movie as well.

Contained herein…

The story of a poor boy who covets the rich girl…

…and a girl who gets to sleep her way through her own movie.

Also known as “Not One of My Favorite Disney Movies.”

Being forced to stick around AFTER the movie, when you’re watching this at home!

You saw this and you waited in anticipation for the final credits to finish just to see what all the excitement is about!

And then it happens!

Actually, this was worth waiting for!

I got this movie during this home video release in the early 1990s. I really liked this movie when I was 10 years old!

We’ve got green FBI warning screens, Sorcerer Mickey logos, the Walt Disney Classics banner (they were truly ambitious that the story of a girl being held captive by a transformed brute of a prince was destined to be a classic!), and well, everything teased here.

What are you waiting for?!  Click play!

Are you seeing Aladdin this weekend?  We are.  Admittedly we’re both a little anxious about it (being my fiancee’s favorite Disney movie, and the movie kind of needing to live up to the hefty expectations of a generation that loved the animated movie), and the previews haven’t been without their flaws (remember Overly Blue Will Smith?).

Here’s hoping the movie is as good as the live action Beauty and the Beast proved itself to be…to my overly lofty nostalgia-obsessed expectations.

Ok, fine, the movie’s starting.  I’ll be quiet now.

Have a fantastic Flashback Friday, and a great weekend!
