Quiz – Can You Name These Dolls from The 1990s?

I love these quizzes, and when I saw this one, the first thing that popped in my head was “make a video!”

It could have been “oooh, take this quiz,” but I wanted to take it a step further.

From How Stuff Stuff Works, I took this 1990s dolls quiz.

  1. Hi, Allison

I am sorry. My name is Michelina Giuliano, I reside in Cedar Grove, NJ. I am so sorry to bother you, but I’m 39 years old. I don’t want you to think I’m crazy because I’m not, but I still have a 1986 Talking Cricket doll which was made by Playmates Toys back then. I have a goddaughter and a godson who I’d like to give this doll too, but about a few months ago, Cricket’s eyes still moved and she was still speaking, but about a month ago, when I put the cassette tapes into her, she eats the film of the cassette and she makes a really bad noise. My dad tried to open her up many times, and we see no parts are missing/nor are loose, so I looked up the girl who voiced Cricket’s voice, and her name is Laura Mooney, I was hoping you were her, but sadly, I think she resides in California and I can’t see her contact info. I was hoping to reach out to her or to someone who might still have this doll and might know of someone who could repair her, since I called Playmates Toys but they don’t repair her anymore. I see you and I are of the same Catholic faith, my parents have been married almost 53 years. I am single, no kids, never married but as I said I have two God-children, and I was hoping if someone could have repaired my Cricket doll, I would give the fixed doll to my God-children for Christmas this year. If you have any suggestions, please let me know either way and please keep me in your prayers as I will for you. I have attached a picture of Cricket to this email. She’s so so cute. She was made in Hong Kong, but I don’t even have any connections to anyone in Hong Kong. My contact info is below:

Thank you so much for listening and I am terribly sorry to bother you. Happy Thanksgiving!!

    1. Hi there. Best bet would be eBay. I’m not actively seeking out one myself, I just enjoy writing about the doll. And no, I’m definitely not Laura Mooney.
