Chicago tried “something different” in 1979 and it backfired (and they got dropped from Columbia), but a whole other experiment in the mid-1990s caused the group to leave Warner Bros. altogether.
I’ve talked about two songs from that mid-1990s experiment, and now a third song that is definitely “something different,” and not in a bad way.
