Why, oh why, do we hate February so much?
Sure the month is the shortest, spring is around the corner, and it is the month of Valentines, history, presidents who celebrate birthdays, huge car, furniture, and white sales, and the groundhog dictates the six weeks leading up to the first day of spring.
In short, hearts abound, history, long-dead presidents, the wrong reason to have a sale, and all our happiness is contingent on what a a fuzzy brown animal sees or doesn’t see.
In searching for something positive about February, I found this fun list (published in 2016) about the ten things you never knew about February. It comes from the UK website Express, and if this doesn’t make the last day of February a happy one, than I’ve failed in my mission.
Hey, it made me smile, and I hate February!

I live in an area where it didn’t snow in February for the first time since 2012 or 2013 (that’s how long it has been!).
It isn’t a leap year, so the month is over after today – we couldn’t say that last year!
It was in the 70s a few times this month. Who doesn’t love summer weather in February?

Except for The Day the Music Died. That’s a letdown.
Still, so much positive!!!
But if you so choose to take the negative approach, and oh, if you really thought your month stunk…
Mayor Bill DeBlasio didn’t drop you.
Yes, I know this happened a few years ago (2014, to be exact), but the groundhog had a worse February than you.
Even worse? That groundhog died a week later.
You’re still alive, which means you’ve had a better February by default!
I know that doesn’t necessarily help, but I’m trying. Really!
It’s almost over. It will be March. Hang in there, and enjoy the rest of your day!
