Luring them in with those pretty visuals, since, well, right now.
Oh hai there! Happy Friday!
Before we jump right in to today’s Flashback, here’s what happened yesterday…
Governor Christie’s look-a-like wears 99-cent ties. News at 11.
Yesterday, we looked at ads from November 1997, and it’s clear that as we moved into the latter part of the 1990s, commercials hadn’t lost their charm towards the archives. The same seems to hold true with 2000, which held onto the charms of the late 1990s while giving a glimpse of things to come. Bulky cell phones and huge and expensive DVRs were the standard in 2000. So were CD player stereos that copied music from one CD to…ANOTHER CD!
Oh yes, you’ll see a commercial all about that in today’s block of ads.
This thrill-fest of a block comes to us from the October 21, 2000 episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Dana Carvey.
Dana is one of those people that doesn’t need to be there to promote anything. We love him and he can swing by anytime. I know I don’t mind. 🙂
In this block…
Holiday-themed uses of lime!
The Seinfeld curse rages on!
Did you really think of him as anything other than Kramer?
Search engines that are Not Google…before Google was a thing.
My favorite search engine in high school. Forget Yahoo, I loved Lycos!
“Take on Me….VOLKSWAGEN!”
Short-lived ventures, and the cheerleaders who supported them!
PUPPIES!…and Debbie Downers who remind you of what PUPPIES! can do to their allergies.
But who care? PUPPIES!!!!
DVR…Before DVR was a thing!
Lobsters with #LifeProblems…who like Munchkins!
2000 was a weird and wild place, people! So let’s do this…click play below and relive the awesomeness of THE FUTURE!!!!
I still have a few tapes from the late 90s and 2000s I haven’t conquered yet, and since this tends to be an untapped era for Throwback/Flashback, I’ll begin to get some of these commercials for segments.
I’m planning to do whole blocks of commercials on occasion, since they are fun segments to throw in once in a while, but I’ll definitely be doing theme weeks and shorter videos as this “season” progresses.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and watching a video about the filler during television shows!
Have a great weekend!
Oh, and if you wanted to know who hosted next…
