#ThrowbackThursday Remembers This…Do You?

You know, I had intentions.  I intended on finding something St. Patrick’s Day in my commercial archives…and I came up short.

Such a disappointment, this I’m aware.

And now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…

Well, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, readers!  While I didn’t find anything all Lucky Charms-ish, green, or St. Patrick’s Day-esque, I did find something in the archives that is not only a nice little treat, it will help you get over my shortcomings VERY quickly.

So unless you live in a hole or under a rock, you probably heard through the grapevine that Harrison Ford is going to be reprising his role as that famous archaeologist, Indiana Jones.  And while the movie won’t be released for three more years, it’s still exciting.  So naturally, I went out and bought the film collection on Blu-Ray so I could re-watch Indy’s adventures all over again, in high definition, the way it was intended!

Plus, Harrison Ford in a fedora. What’s not to love?!

Chances are, if you liked the movies and are old enough to remember them, then you likely remember a television series in the early 1990s called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, featuring the archaeologist as a child and young man.  It lasted three seasons between 1992 and 1993, with four television films between 1994 and 1996.  Oh, and it starred Sean Patrick Flanery, who filled Indy’s fedora nicely.

Yep, totally cute.

And that’s where today’s Throwback Thursday comes in.

Presented herein is a 1992 commercial for The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which aired during the 64th Annual Academy Awards on March 30, 1992 (yes, I looked that date up).  The episode this commercial advertises is the two-parter “Oganga, The Giver and Taker of Life,” which aired in two parts on April 1 and 8, 1992.  The episode advertised here is part 1, “German East Africa, December 1916.”

So, as usual, whenever you’re ready you can just hit play and bask in the glory of a show that was short-lived not because of quality, but cost!  Yes, this show was cancelled due to it’s large budget.  Bet you’ve never heard that one before, have you?

And there you have it, a Not St. Patrick’s Day Throwback Thursday that doesn’t follow a specific weekly theme, but is timely in the sense that it is based on a popular film series that is getting yet another installment.

Now, I just need to track this show down!

Flashback Friday will be arriving tomorrow, and it will be about something other than me fawning over Indiana Jones.

Have a great Thursday!

😀
