Allison’s Written Words pays tribute where it is due, as it should.
As we move into Sunday afternoon, I am saddened to hear of the passing of Former First Lady Nancy Reagan at the age of 94. She displayed a grace and dignity that is severely lacking in politics and society in general. Her fierce and determined love for her beloved husband, Ronald Reagan, is something that is also severely lacking in society. We should all take an example from the story of their life and love.
I would be remiss if I didn’t share this great photo of my grandma from her trip to Washington DC in the early 1980s. The joke I love to tell everyone is about the time she beat up Secret Service agents to get to the President and First Lady.
Of course, those weren’t Secret Service Agents, and it turns out that this lovely couple was, well…stiff.
I’d like to think my grandma was with Ronnie when Nancy arrived in Heaven. I’d also like to believe in an afterlife that reunites the lovely couples who are only separated by a partner’s passing.
It’s something we can all hope for.
