Coincidence?

Hearing the news of the Chicago Cubs and their road to the playoffs (their stint in the NLDS is tied 1-1, with game three happening this evening), and the film Back to the Future having a scene in which it is said that the Cubs win the World Series in 2015 reminds me of another prophecy that I heard about some years ago.

In a second season episode of Quantum Leap, “All Americans – November 6, 1962” (Original Airdate: January 17, 1990), there is a scene where Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) asks Al (Dean Stockwell) where he has been.  Al informs Sam that he was watching Super Bowl XXX (remember, the show takes place in the future – beginning in 1995).  By season two, the future was 1996, and Super Bowl XXX happened on January 28, 1996 (so obviously we knew what the date was in the future).

Al informs Sam that the Pittsburgh Steelers were down by three points, and did lose the game against the Dallas Cowboys 27-17, but twice during that game, the Steelers actually were down by 3 points.

So it’s official – among other real events that happened on Quantum Leap (either by a change in history, or by Sam’s own doing), Super Bowl XXX was predicted.

I guess one can believe some of the things they watch on TV…
