Like many Yankee fans (and anyone who loves and appreciates baseball and good humor), I was saddened to hear the news of Lawrence Peter “Yogi” Berra’s passing on Tuesday at the age of 90. Berra was a familiar face to me, even from a young age, growing up watching Old Timers Day games on television and seeing archive footage of him in action. Yogi will forever be known to me for his quick-witted Yogi-isms, statements that make no sense but are still hilarious nonetheless.
I couldn’t think of a better tribute to convey on Allison’s Written Words than to share a few vintage commercials starring the great puzzler himself. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Miller Lite (1987)
Be sure to look for Jason Alexander in the background, oh the irony that he was sitting next to a Yankees legend, when a few years later, he would be playing a character working for the Yankees!
And finally, who could possibly forget this?

With a tip of the proverbial hat and a nod to your wit, you will be missed, Yogi. A celebrated life may be over, the legacy (and wit) lives on.
Thank you, Yogi.
