Re-Springing Your Step

How about another shuffled Daily Post Writing Prompt?  This one is from January 19, 2015.

Tell us about the last experience you had that left you feeling fresh, energized, and rejuvenated. What was it that had such a positive effect on you?

I find that taking a few days off from work every few months always helps me.

I get fifteen vacation days each fiscal year (July 1st – June 30).  I usually take two vacations a year – in the past, I would go to Chicago for a convention and then use my vacation days for staycations.  When I met my boyfriend (now fiancee), I would not only take vacation time for conventions, I also saved some of those days to go to California to visit his family (now my future in-laws).  This year, we are not taking a vacation other than our trip to California in December, but we are going to two local conventions.  We are also going to Michigan in April for his work trip.  I’m taking the last of my vacation time to go with him.

I find that just getting away from my normal daily routine, if only for even a day or two, helps me recharge.  I come back and feel more productive and (believe it or not) appreciated.  My co-workers and supervisors are always happy to have me back.  I may dig through a pile of paperwork for the first day after I get back, but at least my brain is refreshed!
